Oscar Pistorius Apologises to Reeva's Family, Says He Was ‘Simply Trying to Protect’ her during Shooting

Oscar Pistorius has apologized for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his initial statement today as he took the stand for the first time in his murder trial in South Africa. The Olympian told Steenkamp’s mother June, who showed no emotion at the double-amputee’s concession:

There hasn’t been a moment since this tragedy happened that I haven’t thought about your family. I wake up every morning and you’re the first people I think of, the first people I pray for … I was simply trying to protect Reeva. I can promise that when she
went to bed that night she felt loved.”

In his testimony, Pistorius, 27, said he’s been haunted by the “smell of blood” in nightmares since the Feb. 14, 2013 incident, which he claims his mistake, as he thought the model-reality star was an intruder. He also said he’s been taking anti-depressants and sleep-deprived since the shooting, citing one incident in which he began to panic.

“I climbed into a cupboard and I phoned my sister to come and sit by me, which she did for a while.”

Should Pistorius be convicted of premeditated murder, he could be sentenced up to life with a 25-year minimum sentence. If convicted of murder, he could face up to 15 years in custody. With no jury trials in South Africa, his fate rests in the hands of Judge Thokozile Masipa.

Delta State Police Parade Suspected Kidnappers Of Clark’s Son

Delta State Police yesterday paraded the suspected kidnappers of Chief E. K. Clark’s son, Mr. Ebikeme Clark who was kidnapped last week and was later released.  The suspects also confessed they kidnapped one Madam Rose in Warri, but was released when her family paid the sum of N1.8m as ransom.

Jim Iyke lost his mom on the 1^st of April, 2014 and he has been silent over her death. He finally found courage to pay tribute to his mom who he says, no lover, sister or even a daughter he might have in the future can take her place. His words;

Catholic bishop Under Fire For Spending £25million on new palatial home

A German Catholic bishop faced pressure to resign on Wednesday after it emerged that his new palatial residence would cost £25m, over six times the original estimate.

Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst, bishop of Limburg, was investigated by a Vatican envoy last month after protests in his diocese against lavish spending.

His luxurious choice of home is at odds with Pope Francis's shift of the Church's focus towards simplicity and poverty.

According to Punch, a source close to the couple has confirmed to them that the lovebirds’ relationship is over. According to the unnamed source, Wizkid and Tania went their separate ways last
December. Although the reason for their split is still unknown, the source was doubtful whether either of them was in a relationship.

“They have split for a long time now. In fact, I think it was since December. I don’t know why they broke up and I don’t know if Wizkid is in another relationship but they are no more together,” the source said.

Kpomo Sellers Now Use "Mortuary Embalming Fluid" To Fatten Kpomo?

Health officers in Sapele, Delta State, caught kpomo sellers in Sapele market who confessed to using embalming fluid to fatten kpomo. According to them, they inject the kpomo with the embalming fluid (used in Mortuaries), after which they soak the kpomo in water for a period of time. This process fattens the kpomo and makes it look delicious. They are currently in police custody in Sapele. God help us in Nigeria!

Police Arraign Pastor For Cutting Off 2-year-old’s Fingers

The Sabo Police Station on Tuesday arraigned a 49-year-old pastor, Moyo Martins, before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly cutting off the fingers of a two-year-old child, Saidat Faleye.The incident happened on Olumo Street, Iwaya Onike, Yaba, Lagos State.It was learnt that the mother of the victim, Mrs. Bola Faleye, had left her in the care of Martins on Thursday, when she wanted to take her bath.After she was gone, the child and the suspect were said to have been together in his room.About five minutes later, the child suddenly let out a loud shriek of pain which drew the attention of neighbours.They reportedly alerted her mother who equally rushed to the scene in panic. She found her child’s ring and little fingers chopped off.It was alleged that Martins sawed off the fingers in his room.The kid was said to have been rushed to a hospital within the area for treatment.The suspect initially denied knowing anything about the incident. However, upon his arrest, he allegedly confessed that he did it in error and pleaded to be forgiven.He was arraigned on one count,  which reads, “That you, Moyo Martins, on March 6, 2014, about 1.10pm, at 5, Olumo Street, Iwaya Onike, Yaba, Lagos in the Yaba Magisterial District, did use sharp saw to cut off the left finger of one Saidat Faleye, aged 2 years.”The police prosecutor, Mr. F. Ifijeh, said the offence was punishable under Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial at the magistrate’s court.The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Y.O Aje-Afunwa, admitted him to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.The matter was adjourned till April 24, 2014.culled from punch

400level student of OAU, Dipo Ige, commits suicide after being jilted

A 400level Law student of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Oladipo Olalekan Ige, committed suicide on Monday March 3rd after allegedly being jilted by a girl.Dipo was found dead in his apartment at the Asherifa area of Ile-Ife on Monday evening. He'd killed himself with poison.The student who is said to be above average academically had been threatening to kill himself for weeks before he finally did. According to his friends, Dipo's girlfriend of almost a year broke things off with him in early February and all means to get her back didn't work.Friends said he was a loner and always talked about being depressed and so didn't think the break up affected him so bad when he started to withdraw into himself. And nobody really took his threat to commit suicide seriously until his body was found in his off campus residence. His body has been taken away to his home town of Ibadan by his family members. Suicide is never the answer!

Women Join Men To Sit On Train Roofs As Fuel Scarcity Worsens In Lagos

Women yesterday in Lagos threw caution to the wind when some of them took to train roofs when they were no longer available seats in the trains.Among the women who did this were working class ladies who had to meet up with resumption time at work and market women who were desperate to get to their shops early enough since they were little buses available and the fees were too high.The Nigerian Railway Corporation’s Taskforce who arrests passengers for sitting on top of train roofs, were stunned when they found women among such passengers. They said they couldn’t take any action because the situation was beyond them.

I've been going through alot that I think it's time to speak out....I am married with 2 adorable kids and I'm content and happy. A member of the Boko Haram sect has said that they are against Western education because it challenges the supremacy of Allah and most aspects of Geography, Biology and Sociology contradict the divine order which sees God as the source of all being.While being paraded at the headquarters of the Department of State Service, DSS, in Abuja, 35-year-old Yasir Ibrahim Salihu, (a.k.a Dan Birni), one of the suspected killers of Sheikh Auwal Adam Albani and his wife and son said certain things in Western education contradicts the very existence of Allah.In his confessional statement, Salihu, a graduate of English Literature from the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU), Zaria in Kaduna State said he is a member of the Boko Haram which he joined in 2009 after its late leader, Muhammad Yusuf visited Zaria to deliver a lecture.He said the late Yusuf was against Western education because he said it contradicted the Holy Quran, adding that the Darwin Theory of Evolution contradicts the very existence of Allah, even as he describedsociologists as “free thinkers” who do not believe that there is God.According to Salihu, " in Geography, certain things are against the existence of Allah. In Biology, you have the theory of evolution . Sociology is about free thinkers too and they don’t believe in the existence of Allah. So, all these made me kick against western education ."The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar has, however, assured that security agencies are working towards ensuring the safety and security of students and academic institutions across the country.

Kcee is very Angry with the media for Spreading Rumours that Ebube Nwagbo has Moved in with Him

Limpopo crooner, Kcee, isn’t a pleasant customer to run into, right now. The singer is as much in a foul mood as a bear with a boil. Ever since the rumour went viral that his old flame, Nollywood actress, Ebube Nwagbo had moved into his Lekki residence, he has been looking forward to having a word with someone and Vanguard's encounter with him on Thursday, according to Vanguard, was anything but friendly.

Vanguard reports that a very vexed Kcee addressed the rumour, saying:
"Personally, I don’t have anything to lose by these rumours. I just feel for Ebube. She keeps crying, telling people that I’m the one spoiling her name, because she believes I’m behind the rumours. But it’s not me, I don’t have to spoil anyone’s name. Her mother even called me, crying, telling me to let her daughter be. They think I’m the one sponsoring all the rumours, but why should I do that? I know someone is behind all this. All these things they say are false, it’s not nice. In fact, I just spoke with my wife, she just left the country last week. She’s not based in Nigeria”.
Kcee maintained he never moved into any home at Chevron Estate, Lekki, with Ebube Nwagbo.
“Now they’ve said Ebube moved into my house at Lekki. But here I am at Omole, thank God you met me here. So it’s not fair, journalists and bloggers should stop destroying people’s images with the kind of stories they write” he thundered angrily.
