Female student crushed to death by lorry in Osun

A female student of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, was said to have been crushed to death by a lorry on Monday evening at Poly junction in Iree. The yet-to-be identified student was reported to be a Higher National Diploma (HND) student of the institution.

According to sources, the lorry was coming from Ila Orangun axis of the road while the victim was discussing with some of her schoolmates were discussing at the Poly junction when the driver lost control.It was gathered that the schoolmates of the deceased sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.

The Sun reports:One of the injured students was said to have completed her National Diploma programme at the institution but only went to the school to perfect her records.It was learnt that the corpse of the deceased student has been deposited at a government hospital, while the injured students were receiving treatment at the hospital.

The driver of the lorry, who narrowly escaped being lynched by irate students of the institution was said to have been arrested by the Police alongside his vehicle.
