2 teenage sisters in have drowned in Imo after they were swept away while swimming.The unidentified girls were said to have gone to the ‘Otammiri’ river along with their brother to wash their clothes.However, while they were swimming, they were overpowered by the current and succumbed to it. Their brother was however rescued in time.The Nation reports:The Umuoma community, Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State has been thrown into mourning, following the death of two teenage girls in a river.An eyewitness said the siblings went to the ‘Otammiri’ river to wash their clothes, but drowned while swimming.According to the source, the deceased were accompanied by their teenage brother, but he was fortunate to have been rescued by a good Samaritan.Villagers, who came to wash their clothes, found the bodies of the girls the next day.The rescued boy is reportedly recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in Owerri.
